(Estherville)--The Estherville City Council this evening will consider setting a date for a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the zoning code regarding the creation of a Data Center Overlay District.
The amendment was recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission after a meeting last Thursday. The amendment sets the maximum capacity for a Data Center at 25 megawatts. It also places limitations on environmental impacts, noise, water and electrical consumption.
The council will also hear a presentation from Foth Engineering and the Iowa DOT on the Highway 9 reconstruction project through Estherville.
The meeting will begin at 5 pm at the Iowa Lakes Community College SERT building at 2421 7th Avenue South. An open house on the Highway 9 project will be held at the SERT building from 4 to 5 pm.
