(Estherville)--The pheasant season in Iowa opens this weekend and KILR Outdoors Expert Steve Weisman says it should be a good one in northwest Iowa. Weisman explains where the pheasant may be located.
Weisman urges hunters to take their time when walking through a field.
Weisman says hunters need to put safety first especially when hunting in groups.
He says when hunting on state grounds you need to be aware of other groups.
Weisman says you should never cross a fence carrying a loaded gun.
State officials say the pheasant harvest could total more than 500 thousand birds. The season runs through January 10th.
