Lark Park Officials Weighing Options After Pool Repair Estimates Much Higher Then Expected

(Lake Park)--Lake Park city officials are evaluating their options after an engineer’s estimate to repair the city’s swimming pool came in much higher than expected. Lake Park Mayor Matt Carstensen says the city had contracted with an engineering firm from Kansas City that specializes in pools.

Carstensen says they would also need to put in a new liner as well as other expenses.

Since the pool is not considered an essential city service, Carstensen says it would take a public vote to approve making the needed repairs. He says it would be a year before a vote could take place.

Carstensen says he is putting together a steering committee to consider the city’s options.

Carstensen said the cost to build a new pool on the current site is estimated at $5 million.
