(Estherville)--The Estherville Police Department is offering some tips for having a safe and happy Halloween. Trick or Treating in Estherville will take place Saturday evening from 5:30 to 7:30. Estherville Police Chief Brent Shatto says parents should make sure their kids can be seen by motorists in the dark.
Shatto says kids should wear costumes that don’ block their vision.
He says motorists should slow down and be on the lookout for children darting in and out from between parked cars.
Small children should be supervised while they are trick or treating. Shatto says it’s also a good idea for parents to check their kids candy after trick or treating is over.
Shatto says trick or treaters should only go to homes that have their porch lights on and stay in neighborhoods they’re familiar with.
