(Okoboji)--The Youth in Philanthropy program is back for another year. The Okoboji Foundation recently welcomed 38 students to the first meeting of the year, bringing together new faces and returning participants.
This is the 17th year for the program which empowers students to assess community needs and award grants to youth-focused projects. The students, from Spirit Lake, Okoboji and Harris-Lake Park, meet monthly during the school year.
Last year the YIP program raised a record $93,000. Since the program began, nearly $900,000 has been raised for non-profits in Dickinson County.
