(Marquette)--Iowa Transportation Commission has awarded a $475,000 grant to the Dickinson County Trails Board for phase 5-a of the Tatanka Ska Trace trail.
The funding will go toward a section of trail along the former railroad right-of-way between Orleans and Highway 71 west of Superior.
The commission awarded more than $2.5 million dollars for six projects across the state.
The State Recreational Trails Program was created in 1988 with the purpose of developing and maintaining recreational trails and trail-related facilities for both motorized and non-motorized trail users.
