Drinking Water Health Advisory Lifted for Terril

Category: Local News

(Terril)--The Drinking Water Health Advisory that was in effect for the City of Terril has been lifted. The water is now safe for drinking, cooking and other uses.

The advisory was issued Saturday for high levels of manganese in the water.

A news release from the city says all lab samples came back far below level Environmental Protection Agency's short-term health advisory of 0.3 milligrams of manganese per liter and the level for 6 months of .01 milligrams for liter. The lab results from the distribution system show non detectable levels.

Too much manganese can increase the risk of health problems for children, particularly for infants under 6 months old, and adults.

If you are concerned about your health from manganese exposure, discuss your concerns with

your healthcare provider.
