One Person Killed in Jackson County Car-Semi Accident

(Bergen, MN)--One person was killed in a car-semi accident Monday evening in Jackson County.

 

The Minnesota State Patrol says the accident happened shortly before 6:55 pm on Highwa7 71 near Bergen. The patrol says a 2015 International semi was northbound on Highway 71 and a 2015 Ford Taurus was turning southbound onto Highway 71 when the vehicles collided in the intersection.

 

The driver of the Taurus, an 80-year-old Mountain Lake man, was killed in the accident. His name has not been released.

 

The driver of the semi, 24-year-old Colin Hooley of Plymouth, Indiana was injured.

 

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Jackson and Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Offices, Windom Fire and Ambulance, the Jackson Fire Department, Windom Police Department and Minnesota DNR.
