(Estherville)--The Estherville City Council Monday evening approved authorizing building over a utility easement which will pave the way for large expansion by a local manufacturer. Estherville City Administrator Penny Clayton says the utility easement is at 602 South 1st St.
Clayton says the city will provide tax incentives for the project.
The company has asked Christensen Construction to build an addition of 60,000 square feet for a total of 75,000 square feet of production and warehouse space.
In other business, the council approved the first reading of an ordinance to delete the city’s current Urban Renewal and Tax Increment Financing district and set a public hearing on the creation of a new one.
The hearing will be held on November 2nd. The council also awarded a contract for the River Recreation Enhancement Project. Clayton says Beck Excavating had the low bid in the amount of 1million-153-thousand dollars.
The city has received nearly $1.2 million in state and federal grants to pay for the project.
