Ringsted Man Facing Charges for Vehicle Burglary, Resisting Arrest

(Armstrong)--A Ringsted man is facing charges for breaking into a vehicle and resisting arrest earlier this week in Armstrong.

According to Emmet County Court documents, 59-year-old Christopher Hamre is charged with third degree burglary of a motor vehicle, possession of burglar’s tools and interference with official acts.

The criminal complaint says during the early morning hours on Tuesday, an Emmet County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a suspicious male with a large flashlight getting out of a vehicle in the Armstrong Service Center Parking Lot at 6th St. and C Ave. Several vehicle break-ins had been reported at the parking lot initially on September 23rd with the latest on September 28th. The deputy questioned the suspect, identified as Hamre, who admitted he was inside the vehicle looking for screws and nails. Hamre also admitted he would have kept items found inside the vehicle.

As the officer tried to put Hamre in restraints, Hamre tried to turn and runway. The deputy was able to subdue Hamre and put him in restraints. Hamre was transported to the Emmet County Jail.

A preliminary hearing for Hamre is set for October 12th at 4 pm in Emmet County District Court.
