(Estherville)--Emmet County Auditor Heidi Goebel was recently appointed to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. Goebel says the mission of the independent, bipartisan commission is to help election officials improve the administration of elections and help Americans participate in the voting process.
Goebel explains how she was chosen for the position.
She says she felt honored to be appointed to the commission.
Goebel says regional meetings are held monthly by zoom and there is also a national meeting held annually.
The next national meeting will be held in Philadelphia in April 2027. Goebel says her expenses to attend the national meeting will be paid for by the commission.
