(Washington, D.C.)--The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced that dozens of projects in communities across Iowa will receive nearly $17.5 million in combined funding in response to severe storms in 2020, 2024 and 2025.

Three of the grants awarded are for projects in Clay County:

The City of Spencer will receive just over $1 million to help remove properties substantially damaged by severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes that posed a threat to public health and safety.

The Spencer Community School District will receive nearly $614,000 to fund costs related to the management of Public Assistance grants.

Clay County Secondary Roads was awarded $101,000 to fund the repair or replacement of bridge approaches, decks and guard rails as a result of severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes.

Grants are also awarded to projects in Cherokee, Lyon, Sioux, Story and Woodbury counties in northwest Iowa.
