(Emmetsburg)--A Florida man is facing charges in Palo Alto County for financially exploiting an elderly relative.
At around 6:30 am Wednesday, the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office arrested 39-year-old Christopher Mertz from Lehigh Achers, Florida on a valid Palo Alto County warrant for financial exploitation of an older individual-1st offense and ongoing criminal conduct. Both charges are class B felonies.
Mertz was transported from the Lee County Jail in Fort Myers Florida, to the Palo Alto County Jail by the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office. Mertz was unable to post the $15,000 cash only bond and was placed in jail to await his initial appearance before a magistrate.
