Florida Man Injured in SUV-Semi Accident Near Wahpeton

(Wahpeton)--A Florida man was injured in a two vehicle accident Wednesday evening near Wahpeton.

 

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened shortly after 6:40 pm at the intersection of Highway 86 and 190th St. The patrol says a 2009 Toyota Highlander driven by 67-year-old Robert Spears of Tampa, Florida, was northbound on Highway 86 and a 2017 Peterbilt semi driven by 56-year-old Clarence Horst of Ruthven was southbound. The accident report says the Spears vehicle crossed the centerline at the intersection of 190th St. Horst attempted to take evasive action but was unable to avoid a head-on collision.

 

Spears was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. No information was avalible on the extent of his injuries. Horst was not injured.

 

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Milford Police and Fire Departments and the Iowa DOT.
