Emmet County Supervisors Approve Moratorium on Data Centers

(Estherville)--The Emmet County Board of Supervisors today(Tuesday) established a moratorium on data centers in Emmet County. The board approved the moratorium on a 5 to 0 vote after a brief discussion. Board chairperson Lisa Hansen says the moratorium gives the county more time to investigate the issue.

Hansen says so far the county has not received any inquiries to build a data center in Emmet County. She says the moratorium will allow the board to explore concerns people have regarding data centers.

Hansen says having a data center could bring additional tax revenue for the county. She says the moratorium will be in place for a year.
