(Jackson, MN)--For the first time ever, the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson will host a Minnesota High School Rodeo Association event later this summer. An MHSRA Region 4 rodeo will take place over Labor Day weekend. Shelly Hotzler, President of the Minnesota High School Rodeo Association, says Jackson is able to host the event due to some improvements at the horse arena.
Hotzler explains how the rodeo in Jackson came about.
Most of the $20,000 cost of the project was covered by grant dollars. Hotzler says she hopes hosting the event will get more local kids involved in rodeo.
Hotzler says about 125 kids will participate in the rodeo.
The rodeo will kick-off on Saturday, September 5th at 10 am and run through Monday the 7th.
