(Estherville)--Iowa’s annual pheasant survey begins today(Saturday)and runs through August 15th. KILR Outdoors Expert Steve Weisman says Iowa Department of Natural Resources staff will drive 225, 30-mile routes on gravel roads.
Weisman says the August roadside survey started about 90 years ago.
Weisman expects the numbers to be good around northwest Iowa.
Results of the survey will be posted online at iowadnr,gov/pheasantsurvey in early September. Iowa’s pheasant season begins October 31st.
