(Estherville)--While many people enjoy fireworks on the 4th of July, the loud noises can be very stressful for pets. Emmet County Animal Shelter Director Kristy Henning says there are some things you can do to lessen the stress for your cats and dogs.

Henning says dogs tend to be more sensitive than cats to the sound of fireworks. She says if you kennel your dog, make sure the kennel is securely closed.

Henning says if your cat or dog does get out, it’s important they have identification.
