(Emmetsburg)--A Spencer teen escaped serious injury in a motorcycle accident Wednesday morning in Palo Alto County.

At around 9:45 a.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle personal injury accident which occurred in the 5200 block of 390th St.  According to the investigation, a 1996 Yamaha motorcycle driven by 18-year-old Gauge Durkos of Spencer was traveling southbound on 525th Avenue and turning east onto 390th Street.  While turning, Durkos failed to reduce his speed and failed to maintain control causing the motorcycle to lean to its left side.  Durkos would lay the motorcycle down on the traveled portion of the roadway before entering the south ditch area of 390th Street.  He was checked on scene by medical personnel from the Palo Alto County Health System. 

Durkos was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.  Damage to the motorcycle is estimated at $1,500.
