(Spencer)--Additional charges, including attempted murder, have been filed in connection with a Molotov Cocktail that was thrown into a Spencer apartment last February.
According to court documents, on February 19th, Spencer Police officers were called to an apartment in the 700 block of 8th Ave E. The caller had told police that beer bottles with gasoline were thrown through his window.
After getting into the apartment, officers say they found a broken glass window on the west entrance of the apartment. Two bottles were located at the residence, one broken and another unbroken. According to court documents, the caller also showed officers a burnt spot on the floor from where the bottle came through the window.
Police say 26-year-old Walker Hollenbeck of Archer had motives toward the caller after learning the caller and Hollenbeck’s girlfriend were in a relationship. Authorities say Hollenbeck admitted that while with two other individuals, Lonn Whitford Jr. and Diamond James, he made six Molotov Cocktails that he intended to throw at the caller’s residence.
Hollenbeck was charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree arson. Hollenbeck waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Clay County District Court. His arraignment is set for Monday, July 6, at 9:30 a.m.
Whitford Jr, age 43, was charged with aiding and abetting first-degree arson. He has pleaded not guilty and has a jury trial set for Tuesday, July 14, at 9:30 a.m.
James, age 29, was charged with aiding and abetting first-degree arson. James has pleaded not guilty with a trial date set for September 15th at 9 am.
