Two Men Facing Charges After High Speed Pursuit Involving Two Motorcycles In Spencer

 

 

 

(Spencer)--Two people are facing charges after a high speed pursuit involving two motorcycles Tuesday in Spencer.

 

According to a news release, Spencer Police initiated a traffic stop for speeding at the intersection of Grand Avenue and 1st Street. Two motorcyclists fled the scene, leading officers on a pursuit through South Grand Plaza Drive and westbound on 11th St. Southwest into the county, with speeds exceeding 140 mph.

 

The pursuit concluded at the intersection of 400th St. and Highway 71 following an unintentional collision between a police vehicle and one of the motorcycles. The driver, 22-year-old Tristan Russell of Spencer , fled on foot but was apprehended after being tased. The second motorcyclist, 21-year-old Chase Cook of Winterset, also fled the scene but was apprehended about an hour later at the Reston Inn.

 

Russell was charged with eluding, a class D felony, driving under suspension, and several traffic violations. Cook was charged with eluding, driving without a license and numerous traffic violations.

 

Both men were being held in the Clay County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
