Clean-Up Continues After Trail Derailment in Southern Kossuth County

(Galbraith)--Cleanup and recovery efforts continue following the derailment of a Union Pacific train late Friday afternoon near Galbraith in southern Kossuth County.

 

The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office says ther derailment occurred shortly before 5 pm. The train was hauling grain, and there were no hazardous materials involved. No injuries were reported. The derailment caused road closures from 150th Ave to 160th Ave. on 150th St.

 

As of Saturday, crews had successfully removed the damaged rail cars and were working to repair the railroad track and restore rail operations.

 

For the safety of the public and workers on scene, road closures in the area remain in effect.

 

Officials appreciate the patience and cooperation of residents as Union Pacific and responding agencies work to complete repairs safely and efficiently.
