(Spencer)--The City of Spencer has announced that the Spencer Transfer Station and Northern Plains Regional Landfill transitioned to a credit and debit card-only payment system on June 1st. This initiative, approved by the City Council, aims to modernize municipal operations, increase safety for city staff, and streamline the customer experience.
Residents who prefer to use cash may still do so by purchasing pre-paid debit/credit cards at convenience stores throughout the area. A "soft launch" period began on June 1st with the full enforcement of the cashless policy starting July 1st.
