Emmet County to Become a Member of YES Center in Cherokee

(Estherville)--The Emmet County Board of Supervisors Tuesday entered into a 28E Agreement to become a member of the Youth Emergency Services or YES Center in Cherokee for juvenile detentions. YES Center Director Cheryl McGrory outlines the services they provide.

McGrory says the YES Center has 15 beds for juvenile detention.

She says the YES Center charges counties $175 a day for housing a juvenile. They also offer additional services.

In other business, the board received an update on recovery efforts from Sunday night’s severe storms from Emergency Management Director Travis Sheridan.

The board also authorized using $250,000 in LOSST funds to help pay for the Courthouse Addition. The county has spent all the funds in the Federal American Recovery Plan Act designated for the project. The Supervisors say more LOSST funds will be needed in the next fiscal year to finish the project.
