(Estherville)--The Estherville City Council Monday evening approved revised plans and specifications and awarded a contract for the Phillips Pavilion Project. The council had tabled action last month after the bids came in above the engineer’s estimate. City Administrator Penny Clayton says the city entered into discussions with the low bidder Woldruff Construction of Spencer on ways to reduce the cost of the project.
Clayton details the changes that were made to the project.
She says they needed to leave money in the contingency fund for the remaining phases of the project
Also during the meeting, Clayton commended the work of city crews in cleaning-up after Sunday night’s severe weather.
In other business, the council tentatively approved the sale of two city owned properties at 520 and 526th South 14th St. for $1,000 to Kenneth and Lori Molacek. A public hearing on the proposed sale will be held at the council’s next meeting on June 1st at 5 pm.
