Local Lawmaker Pleased with 2026 Legislative Session

(Des Moines)--The 2026 Iowa Legislative session wrapped up over the weekend. Area State Representative John Wills, a Republican from Spirit Lake, says the legislature passed its top priority, a property tax reform bill.

Wills says another bill passed during the closing hours of the session was the Farm to Faucet Clean Iowa Water Plan.

He says he also supported the Iowa Make America Healthy Again bill.

Wills says a couple of bills he sponsored passed the House but failed to be approved in the Senate. One of those was the REINS Act which would have limited the power of the executive branch.

Wills says he will push for the passage of both bills again next session.
