(Algona)--The Algona Public Library has been selected to receive a $10,000 grant from the Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities program. The initiative from the American Library Association provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities. Adult Services Librarian Sonya Harsha explains how the Library plans to use the grant funds.
Harsha says grants will also be used to purchase snow melting mats for the entrances to the library. She says final decisions will be made after discussions with the public.
Harsha says the grant will build on previous projects to make the library more accessible.
The Algona Public Library was one of 300 libraries selected to participate in the fourth and final round of grant funding.
