Area Planting Season Getting Into Full Swing

(Estherville)--After being delayed by rain at the beginning of the week, the planting of corn and soybeans in northwest Iowa will be getting into full swing. Northwest Iowa Extension Agronomist Gentry Sorenson.

 

 

 

 

Sorenson says the percentage of corn and soybeans that have been planted varies around the area.

 

 

 

 

With drier weather in the forecast, Sorenson says the pace of planting should continue to pick-up.

 

 

 

 

According to the USDA Weekly Crop Report, corn planting in Iowa reached 22 percent complete this past week, which is 10 percent behind last year. Soybean planting reached 11 percent, which is 12 percent behind 2025.
