Fairmont Man Facing Multiple Charges After Single Vehicle Accident in NW Iowa

(Rock Rapids)--A Fairmont, Minnesota man is facing multiple charges after a single vehicle accident this past Friday in Lyon County.

 

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 25-year-old Juan Rubio of Fairmont was driving a 1994 GMC pickup southbound on County Road K-52 near Rock Rapids and lost control of the vehicle while rounding a curve. The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled. Rubio admitted he was using his cell phone at the time of the accident.

 

Rubio was taken to the Rock Rapids hospital.

 

Further investigation revealed the vehicle’s license plates were from the previous owner. Rubio stated he had purchased the truck last year. He was charged with use of an electronic communication device, fraudulent use of registration, no driver’s license and failure to maintain control.
