(Estherville)--The Iowa Department of Transportation hosted a come and go public meeting Tuesday evening at the SERT building on the pavement replacement project on Highway 9 or Central Avenue in Estherville east of the Des Moines River Bridge. The estimated cost is about $8 million for the DOT portion of the 2.4 mile project. DOT District 3 Transportation Planner Sarah Tracy says construction will begin in 2028 and take four years to complete.
The project will also include the replacement of sidewalks and driveway entrances along Central Avenue. Tracy says a lot of planning and preparation needs to be done over the next year.
She says another issue they’ll be working on is temporary easements.
Tracy says the DOT will continue to keep the public updated on the project.
A bid letting for the project is set for late fall 2027.
