(Mankato, MN)--A Fairmont has been man charged in connection with a fatal shooting this past Sunday in Mankato.
44-year-old Joseph Bulfer of Fairmont is charged with one count of 2nd degree murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of assault and three counts of burglary.
Court documents say at around 1:35 pm, Bulfer broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend 37 year old Rosalyn Rode and shot her boyfriend 52-year-old Joshua Downey, multiple times.
According to court documents, Bulfer then attacked Rode, hitting her with a rifle and forcing her into a bathtub, blaming her for the attack.
Court documents also say approximately 20 shell casings were found in the bedroom.
Court records show Rode suffered from numerous contusions to her head and body, a laceration to her head, collapsed lung and several broken ribs. She was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato for treatment.
Bail was set at $5 million with conditions with the next court date set for May 7th.
