(Des Moines)--A bill designed to rein in the power of the executive branch passed the Iowa House last week. The REINS Act or Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny was written by Area State Representative John Wills of Spirit Lake. Wills says the bill addresses the "major rules" proposed by state agencies that carry a significant financial or economic impact. Wills says the bill underwent some revisions after discussions with Governor Kim Reynolds.
Wills outlines the changes made to the bill.
He says the new version of the bill is a good compromise. The bill now heads to the Senate.
