(Spencer)--At their meeting earlier this week, the Spencer City Council approved an application to USDA Rural Development for financial assistance for the relocation of public safety services. City Manager Kevin Robinson says the grant would allow the city to relocate its police station and 911 communications center after the local emergency system was knocked offline during the 2024 flood. Robinson says he was contacted about a month ago by USDA with an opportunity to participate in a grant.
Robinson outlined one of the benefits if the city is awarded the grant.
He says the application does not obligate the city to go forward with the project.
