(Estherville)--Iowa Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey on Wednesday toured the Daybreak Foods plant just south of Estherville to learn more about biosecurity measures at the facility. In response to the bird flu outbreak in 2015, Daybreak has taken a number of measures to protect its flocks. Northey says Daybreak has made a significant investment in improving biosecurity.
Northey says Daybreak has been on the leading edge in developing ways to prevent contamination.
He says companies like Daybreak much better prepared to deal with an avian disease outbreak.
After touring Daybreak Foods, Northey met with area farmers in Corwith and toured Precision Tank and Equipment in Humboldt.
